Coronado’s Choice for Expert Epoxy Garage Flooring
Coronado garages deal with something most of San Diego doesn’t: salt air coming off the ocean and the bay on nearly every side. Add Navy families moving in and out of North Island, small garages off the alleys in the Village, and older slabs under historic houses, and a Coronado garage floor takes a lot, which is why epoxy garage flooring here has to be built for it.
Epoxy garage flooring gives that concrete a sealed, easy to clean surface that holds up to salt, sand and hot tires. Our crews come over the bridge from our shop in Ocean Beach, and every Coronado job gets the same diamond grinding, Mil-Spec coating system and lifetime adhesion warranty we use everywhere else.
Nu Garage & Epoxy has been coating garage floors in San Diego County since 2005, under the same ownership the whole time.
Veteran Owned, and at Home in a Navy Town
We’re a family company with veteran and first responder ownership. Nathan Obermeyer started it in 2005, and in a Navy town like Coronado, we know how a PCS move or a homecoming date can squeeze a schedule.
There’s no sales team or commission structure here, and we don’t hand jobs off to subcontractors. Every person on our crew is either family or a technician who has been with us for years.
If you’re getting a house ready to sell or rent before orders take you somewhere else, tell us your deadline on the first call. Most quotes take a couple of minutes over the phone, with no site visit.

What Separates Our Epoxy Garage Flooring Process
A Mil-Spec floor looks thicker and richer the first time you see it next to a standard kit.
Plenty of companies coat garages in Coronado, and it’s worth asking each one what system they actually install. Ours is a Military Specification (Mil-Spec) coating system, a heavier product than the residential-grade kits most installers use.
Mil-Spec systems are built to the standards used on hangar floors and military facilities, the kind of floors North Island runs on. In a home garage, you get a thicker build, a deeper chip pattern, and a surface that stands up to hot tires, bikes, beach gear and the sand that comes home from the Strand every weekend.
Epoxy Garage Flooring Starts With Concrete Prep
Salt and sand are rough on bare concrete, and years of both can leave a Coronado slab chalky and pitted on top. A coating laid over that surface without real prep will let go, and that’s the most common reason epoxy floors fail early.
We diamond grind every slab to CSP 3 to 5, which cuts through the weak top layer and opens the concrete so the base coat bonds into it. We fill cracks and pits during the same step.
Older homes in the Village often have slabs that were patched, painted or sealed sometime in the last few decades. Grinding takes all of that down to clean concrete before anything new goes on.
A Lifetime Adhesion Promise That Lasts
We introduced the industry’s first lifetime adhesion warranty for garage floor coatings in 2005, and it still comes with every floor. A guarantee like that only holds up if the company does.
We’ve worked out of San Diego for more than two decades, we carry California license #1029937 and full insurance, the BBB gives us an A+, and you can read years of feedback in our reviews on Thumbtack, Google, Yelp and Facebook.
Expanding Beyond Garage Floors: Full Coating Services
A lot of Coronado living happens outdoors, so we also resurface pool decks, patios, walkways and driveways with a urethane polymer system that holds up to salt air and full sun.
Businesses on the island and across the county hire us for commercial floor coatings in restaurants, kitchens, shops, warehouses, breweries, server rooms and hangars.
Garage Storage Designed to Work with Your Floor
Village garages tend to be small, and a lot of them open onto an alley, so every wall and the ceiling have to earn their space. We plan full garage makeovers around the new floor, with overhead storage racks for surfboards, paddleboards and seasonal gear, and custom cabinets that keep tools off the floor.
Overhead racks come from MonsterRax or Safe Racks, and cabinets come from Flow Wall.
How a Coronado Epoxy Garage Flooring Install Works
A typical Coronado garage is finished in a day, with a backup day on the calendar if the slab needs more repair than expected. We sort out parking and access ahead of time, which matters on narrow streets and alley garages, then clear the floor, tape off the trim and get the grinder going.
Inspection
With the slab ground and patched, we check the profile one more time. The epoxy base coat comes next, then a full broadcast of decorative chip. Once that hardens, we scrape away the loose flakes and lock it all in with a polyaspartic topcoat.
Dry Time
Light foot traffic is fine after roughly a day, and vehicles should wait two full days. Damp evenings by the water can stretch the cure, so the crew will give you a specific time before packing up.
Next Morning
The finished floor won’t yellow in sunlight, and oil, brake fluid and tracked in sand clean up with mild soap and water. If the garage doubles as a gym or a rinse off spot after the beach, we can add an anti-slip texture to the top coat.

Text or call 619-537-8837, tell us roughly how big the garage is and how we’d get to it, and we can usually price it, answer questions and pick a date in one conversation. Coronado jobs almost never need someone to come out first.
We also coat garages across the bay in San Diego, down the Strand in Imperial Beach, and in National City and Chula Vista. When you’re ready for epoxy garage flooring in Coronado, give us a call.
Coronado Epoxy Garage Flooring FAQ
How do I keep the floor clean with sand coming in from the beach?
Sweep or dust mop the sand, then mop with a little dish soap in warm water. The sealed surface keeps sand and salt from working into the concrete.
Can you work in an alley garage in the Village?
Yes. We plan parking, staging and access with you before install day so the crew is not blocking neighbors.
I have PCS orders. Can you finish before my move?
Most garages take one day, with a second day held in reserve. Tell us your move date on the first call and we will schedule around it.
Can you coat my patio or pool deck too?
Yes. We use urethane polymer concrete systems for outdoor surfaces that take full sun and salt air.
Do you coat garages in historic Coronado homes?
Yes. The coating only goes on the garage slab, and diamond grinding removes old paint, sealer and patches before we start.
