La Mesa’s Top Epoxy Garage Flooring Experts
La Mesa is built on hills, and so are a lot of the garages we coat with garage epoxy flooring. Mid century ranch homes around Lake Murray and Mount Helix sit on sloped lots with steep driveways, older slabs, and garages that bake on summer afternoons a few degrees warmer than the coast.
Garage epoxy flooring turns that tired concrete into a sealed surface that wipes clean and stands up to heat, oil and hot tires. We grind each slab, install a Mil-Spec coating system, and back it with a lifetime adhesion warranty. From our shop in Ocean Beach, La Mesa is an easy trip out the 8.
Nu Garage & Epoxy has been coating floors in San Diego County since 2005, and the company has had the same owner the entire time.
Owned by a Veteran Family Since 2005
Behind the company is a family with military and first responder service. Nathan Obermeyer started the business in 2005, and our crews have spent years working in La Mesa garages.
Our installers are family members and technicians who have been with us a long time. No subcontractors, no sales commissions, and no one learning the trade on your floor.
Getting a price is quick. One phone call with your garage size usually gets you a guaranteed quote.

How Our Garage Epoxy Flooring System Raises the Standard
Side by side with a typical residential coating, our floors are visibly thicker and deeper.
Many coating products sold for homes are thin and wear through in high traffic spots. Our garage epoxy flooring uses a Military Specification (Mil-Spec) coating system with a much heavier build. Before you hire anyone, these questions will help you compare installers.
Mil-Spec coatings meet the standards used for hangars and industrial floors. In a La Mesa garage, that means a floor that can handle a car parked fresh off a hot driveway, a dropped tool, or a leaking lawn mower without marking.
Surface Prep Is the Real Difference Maker for Garage Epoxy Flooring
Older La Mesa slabs often carry decades of oil, paint and patch jobs, and hillside garages sometimes have settlement cracks from the slope. Coat over any of that without proper prep and the floor will start to peel.
We diamond grind each floor to a CSP 3 to 5 profile, removing the contaminated top layer and leaving rough, open concrete for the base coat to bond with. We repair cracks and fill spalls during the same step.
Grinding is slow, loud work. It’s also the part that decides how long your floor lasts.
A Warranty That Supports Every Installation
Our lifetime adhesion warranty dates back to 2005, when we became the first garage coating company to offer one. It’s included on every floor we install.
To make that promise worth something, we’ve stayed in business across San Diego County for over 20 years, kept our California license (#1029937) and insurance current, earned an A+ BBB rating, and collected years of reviews on Google, Thumbtack, Facebook and Yelp.
More Than a Garage Floor: Full Concrete Coating Resource
Hillside lots in La Mesa often have patios and pool decks that bake all summer. We coat those, along with walkways and driveways, using a urethane polymer system built for full sun.
For shops, warehouses, restaurants, breweries, commercial kitchens, server rooms, locker rooms and hangars, we install commercial floor coatings.
Storage Options That Work with Your Garage Floor
Once the floor is done, most people want to keep it clear. We design garage storage layouts around the new surface, with ceiling racks for bins and camping gear, wall systems for tools and bikes, and cabinets for everything else.
Racks are MonsterRax or Safe Racks, and cabinets and wall panels are Flow Wall.
What to Expect From Our Garage Epoxy Flooring Team
Most La Mesa garage epoxy flooring jobs take one day, with a second day reserved in case the slab needs more repair. We clear out the garage, cover the walls and door frames, and fire up the grinder.
Inspection
After grinding, we fix cracks and give the surface a final check. The base coat goes down, decorative chip gets broadcast across it, the loose chip is scraped once it sets, and a polyaspartic clear coat seals the floor.
Dry Time
Walk on it in roughly a day. Hold off on parking for about two days. Cooler nights slow the topcoat a little, and we’ll tell you when it’s ready before we go.
Next Morning
Your new floor won’t yellow in the sun, and it resists oil, brake fluid and most chemicals. A mop with warm water and a little dish soap keeps it clean. We can mix in an anti-slip additive for a workshop or gym.
Arrange Your Complimentary Consultation

La Mesa Garage Epoxy Flooring FAQ
My driveway is steep. Does that affect the install?
Not usually. We plan where to park our equipment and how to load in, and the slope of the garage floor itself does not change the coating process.
Can you coat a garage on a hillside home with settlement cracks?
Yes. We repair settlement cracks during prep. If a crack is still moving, we will tell you before we coat over it.
Does the coating get hot in La Mesa summers?
The floor stays inside the garage, out of direct sun, so heat is not an issue. For outdoor patios and pool decks, we use urethane polymer systems made for full sun.
Is garage epoxy flooring slippery?
A finished floor can be slick when wet. We can add an anti-slip additive to the top coat for more grip.
Can you coat my workshop floor too?
Yes. Detached workshops and garage shops get the same grind and coating process.
