Spring Valley Epoxy Garage Flooring With Remarkable Everyday Strength

A lot of Spring Valley homes went up in the 1960s and 70s, from Casa de Oro to the streets around Dictionary Hill and Mount Miguel. Many of those garages have been through a few owners, and plenty of them still have a painted floor or an old DIY coating that’s peeling off in sheets, waiting to be replaced with real epoxy garage flooring.

We see this often in East County. Epoxy garage flooring done right starts by removing whatever failed coating is still there, then grinding the slab and installing a Mil-Spec coating system that’s backed by a lifetime adhesion warranty.

Nu Garage & Epoxy has been coating garage floors since 2005 with the same owner, and Spring Valley is a quick drive from our Ocean Beach shop by way of the 94.

Family Owned and Run by the Founder

Our ownership is family, with veteran and first responder service in the mix. Nathan Obermeyer founded the company in 2005 and still owns it, and we’ve done a lot of work in Spring Valley over the years.

Every installer on your floor is family or a technician who has worked with us for years. We don’t use subcontractors, and we don’t pay anyone to upsell you.

Call with your garage size and we can usually give you a guaranteed price on the same call.

Why Our Epoxy Garage Flooring System Produces Better Results

Compared side by side with a store bought kit, the extra thickness of our system is easy to see and feel.

Most failed garage floors we remove started as thin paint or a one coat kit. We install a Military Specification (Mil-Spec) coating system with a much heavier build, and you can use these questions to see how any installer’s system compares.

Mil-Spec coatings are rated for hangars and industrial floors. In a Spring Valley garage, that means epoxy garage flooring that won’t lift under hot tires coming off the 125 in August, and won’t scuff through where you roll the trash cans out every week.

Prep Is the Most Important Step in Epoxy Garage Flooring

Old coatings are the biggest prep issue we see in Spring Valley. Garage floor paint and DIY epoxy kits sit on top of the concrete instead of bonding into it, so they peel and flake in East County heat. Putting a new coating over the old one only repeats the problem.

We diamond grind the whole slab to CSP 3 to 5, removing every trace of the old coating along with oil and the weak top layer. That leaves clean, open concrete for the base coat to bond to. Cracks are repaired at the same time.

Stripping an old coating adds time to the morning, but it’s the only way the new floor stays put.

A Warranty That Truly Protects Your Investment

Your floor is covered by a lifetime adhesion warranty, something we started offering in 2005 before anyone else in the industry.

The company behind it has been in business for over two decades, holds California license #1029937, carries full insurance, rates A+ with the BBB, and has a long record of reviews on Google, Thumbtack, Yelp and Facebook from homeowners across San Diego County.

More Than Garage Floors: Total Concrete Coating Support

Inland summers wear down outdoor concrete, so we also coat pool decks, patios, walkways and driveways using a urethane polymer system built for heat and sun.

Commercial clients hire us for floor coatings in shops, warehouses, restaurants, breweries, commercial kitchens, server rooms and locker rooms.

Solutions to Organize and Match Your Garage Floor

Many Spring Valley garages have turned into storage rooms over the years. A new floor is a good reason to take the space back. We design garage storage plans with overhead racks for boxes and seasonal items and cabinets for tools and supplies, so the cars can come back inside.

We source overhead storage from MonsterRax and Safe Racks and cabinetry from Flow Wall.

Our Approach to Installing Epoxy Garage Flooring

Most Spring Valley garages are done in one day. Removing a failed coating can take part of a second day, and we’ll mention that in the quote. We start by clearing the garage, covering the walls and door frames, and grinding.

Inspection

With the old coating gone and the cracks repaired, we check the bare concrete. Then comes the epoxy base, a full layer of chip, a scrape once it cures, and a polyaspartic clear coat on top.

Dry Time

You can walk on it after around a day and park after around two. Winter nights can add a bit of cure time, and we’ll give you the exact time before we head out.

Next Morning

The finished floor won’t yellow, and it resists oil, brake fluid and most household chemicals. Clean it with a mop, warm water and a little dish soap. We can add anti-slip texture if you use the garage as a gym or workshop.

Spring Valley Epoxy Garage Flooring FAQ

No. Coating over failed paint is why it peels again. We grind the old coating off completely, then coat the bare concrete.

Most kits go on without grinding, so they sit on the surface instead of bonding to it. Heat and hot tires then lift them off.

It can add time, depending on how much is left on the slab. Mention it when you call and we will include it in the quote.

We design storage with overhead racks, cabinets and wall systems so the floor and parking space are usable again.
